This paper describes the Ariel 5 sky survey instrument, the 2A catalog of X-ray sources, and the data analysis used in compiling the 2A catalog. Attention is given to the identification of 2A sources, X-ray emission from clusters of galaxies, X-ray sources identified as Seyfert galaxies, and other active galaxies associated with X-ray sources. Improvements in 2A source positions are also discussed.
