The Galactic superluminal source GRO J1655-40 experienced a soft X-ray outburst in May 1996 which was followed by a weak hard X-ray outburst. Our joint TOO program for HST and XTE was triggerred which made five successful visits to the outbursting source between May 13 and July 24. We report the temporal properties of GRO J1655-40 during the soft X-ray outburst and subsequent decline.
