We observed the SU UMa-type dwarf nova T Leo during a precursor to the superoutburst in 1993 January. V-band time-resolved CCD photometry revealed the existence of superhumps even during a precursor outburst, which otherwise closely resembled a normal outburst. This finding not only provides observational evidence of the suspected idea that a tidal instability starts to work in precursor outbursts of precursor-superoutburst complexes, but also severely constrains the growth time of superhumps to less than 10 to 20 orbital cycles.
