The possibility of simulating a primary s-process which observations of stellar abundances would appear to imply is studied. It is found that a mechanism based only on the metallicity dependence of the neutron exposure does not produce the required s-process production. If the effect of N-14 production in stars with different initial metallicity is included, then it becomes possible to reproduce the observed primary nature of the s-process abundances.
