Several TeV sources γ-rays have been detected in the past decade, and others have been proposed. They can be divided into three main categories: galactic, extra-galactic, and exotic. Here I review the two former categories, which contain the sources which have been observed, with discussions of the source characteristics and the physical mechanisms by which γ-rays are produced. I also discuss recent developments regarding the use of the extra-galactic sources as probes of the intervening medium. .
