Scientific paper
The narrow range of energies that characterize gamma-ray burst spectra
motivated Brainerd to develop the Compton attenuation theory of burst
spectra. We fit model spectra to 11 bright bursts to test and confirm
the theory's prediction of an x-ray excess below 10 keV.
