An investigation is conducted of a detector system consisting of a proportional counter and a crystal-anticoincidence device. The investigation is carried out in connection with the planned study of the emission characteristics of the Cygnus Loop in the soft X-ray region. The prototype of a proportional counter is tested together with two scintillators which were obtained from different suppliers. The tests show that the proportional counter can be employed for the study of Fe-55 gamma rays if an anode operational range from 1150 to 1900 V is used.
