We present results of a fully frequency, angle, and depth dependent radiation transport calculation for the atmosphere of a magnetic white dwarf which is heated by a stream of free falling protons, losing their energy by Coulomb encounters with atmospheric electrons. We derive the functional dependencies between the ensuing maximum temperature and the thickness of the particle heated layer on the mass flow onto the atmosphere, the field strength, and the white-dwarf mass. In addition, we give a formula for the temperature structure inside the heated region which can be used to calculate the emitting cyclotron spectra in a rather quick way.
