The paper examines a nonlinear operator relationship between the vertical variations of the transmission function of an planetary atmosphere at a given frequency and the vertical temperature profile of the atmosphere. In the linear approximation this relationship is reduced to an integral form, where the temperature dependence of the gaseous absorption coefficient is given explicitly. This approach is used to obtain a simple scheme for the interpolation of the temperature dependence of transmission functions at thermal-sounding frequencies. An example of the use of this scheme is presented.
