The optical system, made with modular interchangeable elements allows the adjustment of the optical field dimension, and is fully automatic. The system is intended for the attitude control of an infrared photometer, but is designed to have multiple applications. In full Moon conditions the system can keep control pointed to stars of 13.5 magnitude. In dark conditions acceptable operation is obtained for 15 magnitude stars, the visibility limit being 17.
