Mira Stars: Identifications
Scientific paper
On 1994 July 21, a suspected variable was found by Mike Collins during the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol in Andromeda. The object is identified as CGCS 344 at α=02h23m20s, δ=+48°43.6'(2000) and possibly the Dearborn carbon star Lee 247. Kato reports that this object has also been independently discovered by Hiraga, with the designation J022321+484340. The object is apparently a Mira-type variable, reaching maxima around 1998 March - May and 1999 March - June (maxima are broad, as is usual for carbon Miras). A finding chart and magnitude sequence to V magnitude 12.6 are provided.
