The single, rapidly rotating K1 giant star YY Men is one of the most active late-type stars within a few hundred parsecs of the Sun, having produced two of the most powerful radio flares and one of the most powerful and long-duration optical/near-IR flares ever detected, as well as a having a corona with a typical X-ray luminosity of ~10^32 erg/s which the vast majority of cool stars attain only during major flares. Coronally active stars, ranging from dMe flare stars to single giant stars to active binary systems, share a variety of characteristics, among them enhanced radio and X-ray luminosities. Complex interrelationships between signatures of coronal plasma heating and particle acceleration have been found in other classes of active stars, but a time-dependent relationship has not been explored for single active giant stars, despite ample evidence that the magnetic activity manifestations on these stars are similar to those of other active stars. We propose to obtain 3 and 6 cm ATCA observations overlapping our proposed Suzaku observations to examine the interaction of particle acceleration and plasma heating in an evolved active star.
