We highlight recent results from the UKIDSS Large Area Survey (LAS)
including a T dwarf with an estimated Teff = 550-600 K and new
constraints on the substellar mass function in the field. We also define
the T9 subtype as an extension to the T spectral sequence defined by
Burgasser et al. (2006).
