Spectrum analysis was used in studying the distribution of various sunspot activity parameters over heliographic latitude. It was found that these distributions contain periodic components with periods on the order of 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 deg. The activity parameters are distributed in latitude bands such that (1) there is a discrete set of band widths; (2) the band structure covers the entire area of the sunspot-forming region; and (3) the positions of the activity bands are statistically stable over time intervals of at least 50 y.
