A simple formula that relates the Coulomb parameter to the logarithm of the proton emission half-life, corrected by the centrifugal barrier, is presented. The corresponding experimental data lie on two straight lines corresponding to different regions of charge numbers, independently of the angular momentum of the outgoing proton. We also present a simple relation between the logarithm of the spectroscopic function and the quadrupole deformation. These dependencies provide a powerfull tool to assign quantum numbers to the experimentally observed decay processes.
