Synthetic spectra are presented for cool, helium-rich white dwarfs of spectral type DZ, with variable metal abundances. Model atmospheres are calculated for gravity 108CGS, and effective temperatures Teff between 7000 and 10000K. The influence of variable C abundances, and of changing abundances of other electron donors, e.g. hydrogen is demonstrated.
