The radio spectrum of Sgr A* is interpreted as being optically thin synchrotron radiation from quasi-monoenergetic relativistic electrons. The combination of acceleration at shock waves, scattering off turbulent Alfvén waves, radiation losses and a confinement time of the electrons inside the source that is long compared to the acceleration time scale can result in a pile up of electrons at a certain energy. Modelling these processes requires the solution of coupled kinetic equations, which is done numerically using the Method of Lines. The application to the Galactic Center radio source Sgr A* gives good agreement with the radio data and the results are compatible with the upper limits from the infrared to the γ-ray spectral regions. Since Sgr A* is known to be a variable source, possible origins of variability are examined and the corresponding theoretical radio light curves are presented.
