The influence of single-photon pair production on the synchrotron spectrum of a pair plasma is studied. An attempt is made to determine its effect on synchrotron models of gamma-ray burst spectra. The steady-state kinetic equations for the electron-positron and photon distributions are solved self-consistently in the strong magnetic field expected in the gamma-burst emission region. Emission by two-photon pair annihilation is discussed.
