We present current results of our observations of QSO fields with known Damped Lyman α Absorbers (DLAs) at z ~ 3. Because DLAs are thought to be the progenitors of normal galaxies today, we must learn about the mass and environment of high redshift DLAs to understand the formation of typical galaxies like the Milky Way. The level of cross-correlation between detected Lyman break Galaxies (LBGs) and DLAs in these fields allow us to (1) determine the relationship between LBGs and DLAs, (2) infer the typical mass of DLAs, (3) observationally test cosmological models of structure formation, and (4) lend insight into the nature and evolution of these protogalaxies at high redshift.
