Differences in the abundance ratios of the I-Xe isotopic system in the earth mantle and the atmosphere are analyzed quantitatively. It is shown that the difference in the isotopic abundance ratio Xe-129/Xe-130 in the mantle and the atmosphere is related to the difference in the amount of gas released during the early degassing phase of planetary evolution with respect to the amount of gas released in the process of gradual continuous degassing after I-129 decay. On the basis of the published experimental data, the numerical value of this ratio is estimated at about 1.5. Absolute estimates of the degree of degassing are obtained by combining data for the I-Xe and U-He isotopic systems. It is found that 50-60 percent of the volatile gaseous components of the I-Xe and U-He systems was released during the early degassing phase; about 35-40 percent of the volatile gas component was lost in the process of slow gradual degassing during differentiation of the planet. The remaining percentage of juvenile volatile gas is probably preserved in the differentiated reservoirs of the earth.
