We present preliminary results of a B,V,R surface photometry of the LSB
galaxy UGC 5889 which we intend to compare with a recent analysis of its
resolved stellar population. The maps show the patchy structure of the
galaxy in B, while it is considerably smoother in R. We use the colour
information to identify regions with ongoing star formation.
