Surface brightness and color profiles have been obtained for the blue compact dwarf (BCD) galaxy Haro 2, which is the prototype of a small class of nE BCDs showing a single high surface brightness star-forming nuclear (n) region superposed on a larger low surface brightness non-star-forming elliptical (E) component. The results are used to discuss the morphological type of Haro 2 and its stellar populations. The authors find that Haro 2 appears to be an extreme example of an elliptical galaxy undergoing intense star formation in its central regions, and that the oldest stars it contains were made only ≡4×109 yr ago. The "missing" mass problem with respect to Haro 2 is also examined.
