An upper bound to the photon spectrum is found to be implied by a fit of
the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation spectrum employing a
positive linear superposition of Planckian spectra. A weighting function
with a normalization greater than unity is yielded by the observed CMB
spectrum.
