Hydrodynamic instabilities play a key role in several astrophysical phenomena. We present a laser experiment related to the evolution of Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities (RTI) due to the passage of the shock wave through the He/H interface in a type II supernova. The experiment is performed on the CEA-Phébus laser facility and the RTI are studied using a bi-layer Cu/CH2 target with sinusoidal ripple at the interface.
