Variations in binary system orbits caused by the explosion of one component are analyzed. Calculations are made to determine the orbital variations of a binary system, the effects of an explosion, the parameters of a binary system before an explosion, and the orbital eccentricities after an explosion. It is shown that the orbits will be approximately circular after an approximately spherically symmetric explosion. A limit on the asymmetry of an explosion is derived below which a deviation from the results obtained under the assumption of spherical symmetry are negligible. The calculated values of orbital eccentricities are found to be consistent with those observed in binary X-ray sources. It is noted that the orbital eccentricities of the Cyg X-1 system are significantly larger than those of massive close binaries, which may indicate that there was an explosion in this system.
