It is reported that the sunward and anti-sunward electric currents below Magsat orbit amount to as much as two million Amps, so that the observed dawn-dusk asymmetry of the geomagnetic X-component values at the Magsat orbit should be different from the dawn-dusk asymmetry on the ground. Analyses are being conducted to establish the dependence of the sunward or anti-sunward space current on universal time, geomagnetic activity, the solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field condition, and the solar seasonal declination.
