Solar Photosphere: Velocity Fields, Sunspots: Evolution
Scientific paper
The comparison of solar photosphere velocity-fields with the day-by-day evolution of sunspots reveals the following phenomena: the active centers are generally associated with up-draft areas, but sunspot evolution corresponds to area of downward flow or at the boundary of upflow and downflow. A study of twelve cases suggests a systematic effect.
