The two AFOS programs, called SUN and MOON, allow the user to produce annual, monthly, or daily tables of sunrise/sunset or moonrise/moonset for most latitude-longitude locations around the globe. As a result, it is possible to have sunrise/sunset or moonrise/moonset times for those locations at which these data are not readily available. The programs were developed to allow the forecasters to have sun and moon data for any number of stations around their area of interest. This should make it quite easy to rapidly disseminate accurate information to those public interests requesting such data. These are the two main benefits of the programs - speed and accuracy of information.
