Results of Lyman alpha wings observations, made on the 19, 20 and 22 of August 1997 with the SUMER spectrometer, are presented. We focus on the study of 3 different lines : the C III (1175.7 A) and Si III (1206.5 A) lines in the blue wing of Lyman alpha and the N V (1238.8 A and 1242.8 A) lines in the red wing. The atomic transitions of these lines, formed in the transition region, have been theoretically modelised. These lines are observed with a very good precision. The spectra present large spatial (along the slit) and temporal variations. These variations consist mainly in an important enhancement of the intensity without any major shift of the spectral position and any modifications of the width of these lines. The chromospheric network can be revealed from the variation of the spectra along the slit. The temporal variations could be interpreted as micro flares or very short localised emission. The 6 fine structure components of the C III line are perfectly observed. We are working on theoretical
