The astronomical software is a kind of useful auxiliary tool for studying the ancient astronomy. The computed results from several sorts of commercial astronomical software are compared with those from professional ones. The data analysis shows that they are all reliable for the period of 200 ~ 300 years, however some sorts of commercial software are not suitable to the study of ancient astronomy, which involves a time span of thousands of years. The analyses indicate that by judging from the data precision, secular reliability or abundant function, SkyMap is worth spreading for studying ancient astronomy.
