A two-dimensional time-dependent nonlinear resistive MHD code is used to numerically analyze the recovery phase of a magnetospheric substorm. The model reproduces such characteristic features of the recovery phase as the tailward motion of the x-point of the reconnected magnetic field lines and the restoration of a tail-like configuration to the magnetic field. The results suggest that driven reconnection can be a viable mechanism for the magnetospheric substorm.
