A heterodyne detection system for the submm wavelength using a laser as local oscillator and an open structure mixer is described. At Jungfraujoch the system had a noise temperature of 4300 K (DSB) and was used for astronomical observations of objects with continuum spectra in a bandwidth of 80 MHz and for narrow lines using a 1024 channel acousto-optical spectrometer with a resolution of 200 kHz per channel. The first results are presented.
