Broadband VLF measurements at several distributed sites in Alaska at L shells of 4-5 and on ship board receivers at the magnetic conjugate point are used for observations of ducted chorus events occurring preferentially during quieting geomagnetic conditions. Observations include discrete rising frequency elements, quasi-periodic emissions and whistler triggered emissions. In addition, phase and amplitude of signals from VLF transmitters subionospherically propagating over great circle paths covering the same L-shells are used to detect burst electron precipitation associated with chorus emissions While association of chorus observations and energetic electron micro-bursts has previously been observed using other techniques (e,g., riometers), measurements of effects in the nighttime D-region over several distributed set of subionospheric VLF paths may allow a first assessment of the spatial extent of the most energetic component (> 100 keV) of such precipitation.
