The SUNDIAL period, June 1-8, 1987, was characterized by low solar activity and corresponded to a period of ionospheric relaxation to an undisturbed state after a series of magnetic storms. The present study presents an analysis of the dynamics of the nighttime subauroral ionosphere based on Cosmos-109 sounding data and electron-precipitation measurements.
