Results of simulated experiments studying low energy electron flux and its effect on active experimentation onboard Spacelab are reported. Emphasis is placed on the spacecraft environment resulting from combustion processes onboard the Spacecraft, outgassing, odors and toxic fumes partially caused by astronauts' exhaled air. The extensive measurements, precautions, and expenses involved are outlined.
