The strongest manifestations of solar activity are solar flares (SFs)and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). These manifestations produce waves and large scale perturbations in the interplanetary (IP) medium, solar energetic particles events (SEPs) and Geomagnetic storms (GSs). In this work we study the relationship between 52 halo CMEs, SFs, SEPs, ejecta and shock signatures near 1 AU, and GSs during the ascending phase of solar cycle 23. We found correlations between CMEs initial speed and Dst index with the solar cycle, and between the transit speed of the ejecta and the increment in energetic particles in the IP medium. However, there is no good correlation between CME speed and the intensity of its associated GS. On the other hand, we selected some particular events to study case by case, analyzing their in-situ plasma and magnetic field parameters in the IP medium at 1 AU using ACE mission data base. We report the IP causes (shock wave, sheath region, ejecta or corrotating interaction region) of weak, moderate and intense GS. For these events we found a good correlation between min Dst and max VBs.
