This semester I have begun teaching the introductory astronomy course for non-science majors in a "studio" format. Instead of the traditional lectures + lab format, in the studio we meet in the lab for two hours, three times a week in order to maximize the opportunity for active learning on the part of the students. I will report on the quite positive, though preliminary results of this change in format.
