Light variations of 89 variable stars in a 0.9 x 0.6 deg field with the center at 05 h 37 m - 70.2 deg (field II) in the LMC are studied. The photometric scale of Cepheids is refined, and possible period variations of Cepheids are identified when compared with Payne-Gaposchkin's (1971) data based on observations conducted in the first half of the century. The results are compared with those of an earlier investigation of variable stars in another LMC region near the star cluster NGC 1854 with the center at 05 h 37 m - 68.9 deg (field I), where young star clusters and associations are located. Cepheids in field II have systematically shorter periods than in field I, which characterizes field II as being older. The absolute magnitudes of Cepheids in field II are 0.6 m fainter than in field I.
