The Mars planetary bow shock motion and its shape variation under the
influence of variations of the external plasma flow parameters and the
shape of the magnetopause are here described by a self-consistent
quantitative model. The model is applicable to other planetary bow
shocks, including those with unusually low Mach numbers.
