High resolution short wavelength IUE spectra of reddened early stars were used to determine interstellar CO, column densities. These were compared with CH, CH+, and CN from optical observations and with CO from microwave measurements. The abundance ratio of CO12 to CO13 is small, consistent with models in which the CO13 abundance in diffuse clouds is increased by exothermic fractionation.
