The structure of the field in the tail of the induced Venusian magnetosphere has been studied by Dubinin et al. (1978) on the basis of laboratory simulation of solar wind/ionosphere interaction, showing that the nature of the magnetic fields in the tail of the natural and induced Venusian magnetospheres is topologically indistinguishable. In the present paper, Venera 9 and 10 data are used to show that the tails of induced magnetospheres possess apparently a helical structure, as distinct from the magnetospheric tails of planets possessing a substantial proper magnetic field.
