A reanalysis of solar limb darkening measures with accurate central disk
intensities yields improved values of 'observed' absorption
coefficients, mean intensities, fluxes, and second moments, in the outer
layers of the sun. 'Observed' absorption coefficients are shown to be in
excellent agreement with the latest negative hydrogen ion data.
