Some problems concerning the interpretation of high-latitude galactic radiation and the nature of galactic loops are discussed. The assumption is made that, if Loop I is the remnant of a near supernova, then some phenomena should be observed which are caused by the effect of a local region of an ordered magnetic field on the expansion of the supernova envelope. The isophotes of Yates (1968) are discussed from this viewpoint.
