A class of call signals is proposed for communications with extraterrestrial civilizations: a strictly monochromatic oscillation with the frequency of interstellar hydrogen multiplied by an irrational mathematical constant (pi, e, the square root of 2). The degree of accuracy of the mathematical factor would then be a sign that the signal is intelligent. There would be no need for such anthropomorphic concepts as modulation and codes, and interference effects (such as the Doppler effect) could be eliminated by using two-wave call signals.
