Strong hydromagnetic fluctuations have been observed in the induced magnetosphere of comet P/Halley. Several regions have been identified showing different type of fluctuations, i.e. exhibiting either strong turbulence, being characterized by the absence of strong fluctuations, or showing isolated, quasi-coherent wave trains above a turbulent background. Visual inspection of these wave trains show no preferred sense of polarisation, i.e. they may be of transverse, compressional, or mixed polarisation. Spectral analysis shows peak power at various frequencies, corresponding, for example, to water group or hydrogen ion cyclotron resonances. Analysis of a peculiar type of oscillations with about 25 s period suggests strong contributions from off-angle propagating waves.
