Part I is devoted to bosonic string. The author calculates the free energy at any genus. The vacuum energy for torus-compactified bosonic string is found. In part II he briefly describes the free energy for open and closed superstrings. In part III he discusses the noncritical strings thermodynamics. The free energy in the closed noncritical bosonic string with dynamical Weyl mode is found. The same model of open string at nonzero temperature is considered in an external magnetic field. Finally, the thermodynamics of Chamseddine's noncritical string model based on Jackiw-Teitelboim two-dimensional gravity is investigated. The general description of two-dimensional gravity actions is given in part IV.
