The Bianchi type I and type V solutions of the string-driven anisotropic cosmological space times are constructed for the case in the presence of perfect fluid matter with bulk viscosity and a nonvanishing cosmological constant. It is found that string-induced bulk viscosity increases the mean radius attained in one cycle and increases the cyclic period. Efforts using string theory to explain the observed vanishing of the cosmological constant are reviewed.
