The College of Southern Idaho's Centennial Observatory opened in May of 2004. While appropriately instrumented for astronomical research, the facility's primary goal is to serve as a public visual observatory for educational outreach. We describe some of the unique features and strategies employed to achieve the goal of a highly-accessible, user-friendly public astronomical observatory, as well as a preliminary assessment of the success of our approach to date.
The Centennial Observatory is funded by the College of Southern Idaho.
