Two-telescope amplitude interferometry has been used to measure in the visual the angular diameters of alpha Cas, beta And, gamma And, alpha Per, and alpha Cyg. For stellar diameters visually determined within 2.5 and 12 milliarcsec range, an accuracy of 10-20% is obtained, which is comparable to the precision given by the original Michelson stellar interferometers and by lunar occultation techniques. The accuracy of two-telescope interferometry can be improved by observing each star with two or three different baselines during the same night and by computing the fringe contrast with hardware and software processing from the analysis of the fringe pattern recorded by a photon counting TV camera.
