The astrometric accuracy of SIM will fundamentally advance the field of
stellar astrophysics by allowing accurate distance determinations to
classes of stars too rare to be represented in current databases and
flux calibration to unprecedented levels. I will present a summary of
some of the projects that propose to carry out these tasks.
